Timothy Michael Rolls

Composer/Teacher


Timothy Michael Rolls is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Fort Hays State University it Hays, Kansas. He has studied composition with Michael Kinney, Gundaris Pone, David Brackett, and Michael Horvit. He holds degrees from the University of Houston, Binghamton University, and the State University of New York at New Paltz. His works have been performed both nationally and internationally, including a recent performance in Helsinki, Finland. His areas of interest include computer assisted composition, electro-acoustic Music, and solo chamber works.

His teaching interests include all levels of undergraduate music theory, 18th Century Counterpoint, Arranging and Orchestration, History of Music Theory, Schenkerian Analysis, Analysis of Contemporary Music, Sequencing and Recording, Max/MSP, and Csound. In over 22 years of teaching his students have moved on to schools such as Columbia University, Eastman School of Music, University of Wisconsin, and many other fine univerities.
